Brad Curtis & The Some X 6 Band "Dodging Raindrops" (Canada)

There is not doubt that Brad Curtis & The Some X 6 Band are the most creative and unique sounding band, that Canada has to offer. "Dodging Raindrops", their newest album, continues to brilliantly prove that. Their last 2 releases, caught my attention, to the point where I awarded their 2013 album "The Devil's In My Pocket", Best Classic Rock Album (Canada) & "The Hoodoo Shake", my Editors Choice Award 2012 (Most Unique & Original Sounding Album Of The Year).

"Dodging Raindrops" contains 8 Tracks and although it clocks in at around 30 minutes, it still feels a fair bit longer, as a lot of great sounding music is packed into that time slot. Joining Brad Curtis (Vocals/Bass/Guitar) on "Dodging Raindrops" are bandmates Rob Richard (Guitars), Andrew Timothy (Guitars), Landry Watson (Drums), and Dave Holden (Drums). All the tunes on this album showed off the amazing talent of Brad Curtis as he not only wrote, but also recorded and produced "Dodging Raindrops".

My first impressions off of "Dodging Raindrops", especially the first 2 songs, "Dodging Raindrops" and "Jet Black Mustang", were that it had, for me, a older British Rock feel to it, with a little psychodelic sound thrown in for good measure. Pretty well all the tunes on "Dodging Raindrops" follow in those footsteps except for Track 4, "Something More", which came off with a very mild Country Rock feel.

I usually don't do reviews of any kind for stuff that isn't Blues or Blues Rock, but Brad Curtis & The Some X 6 Band's style of music, which is now falling quite heavily into the Rock and at times Classic Rock category, has always fascinated me to the point where I just have to write, at least something.

As mentioned earlier, Brad Curtis & The Some X 6 Band, are a truly brilliant band, with music that continues to go way out of the box, compared to the to much released cookie cutter stuff out there nowadays, with "Dodging Raindrops" certainly coming across as yet another mighty fine album from this mighty fine group of talented artists.
