Son Jack Jr & Michael Wilde "Walk The Talk"

 Release Date Summer 2010

On any given day, being buried up to your neck in the Blues is what Son Jack Jr. is all about,  and now with his new release "Walk The Talk", with co-artist Michael Wilde, we all have the opportunity to buried up to our necks in the Blues, as well.

"Walk The Talk" is the first collaboration between Son Jack Jr., and Michael Wilde, and I for one really, really hope that this team continues to work together, putting out more Albums in the future. The two of these guys make for one heck of a great writing team.

"Walk The Talk" consists of 12 Blues Drenched Tracks, 8 Originals (6 by Son Jack Jr., and 2 by Michael Wilde) and 4 Covers, Crawlin' King Snake (Hooker), Miss Maybelle & Skinny Woman (Burnside) and Pony Blues (Patton). All Tracks are played lean and mean, doing more than justice to the Covers and showing us all how great Son Jack Jr., and Michael Wilde are, not only as writers, but as musicians as well.

Their are two things that are abundantly clear that you will get from listening to "Walk The Talk", and that is that Number 1, "Walk The Talk" is an astonishingly good Traditional Blues Album, which will have you no doubt, correcting your vision and seeing this style of blues in a whole new and appreciative light and Number 2, at even clocking in at over 43 minutes, it is still to damn short. Luckily that can be easily remedied simply by hitting the repeat button on the old CD Player.

"Walk The Talk" is by far the best Traditonal Blues Album I have listened to all year and beyond any Accolades I can offer, those will surely be dwarfed by the Accolades, yet to come from the Music Industry at large.

The highest rating I give Albums is 5*****, for which, "Walk The Talk" euthusiastically gets that from me. I somehow feel that as special as this Album is, I wish I had a higher rating for it. If you love Traditional Blues, sung right, played right, and written right, this Album is for you. Highly Recommended and more than Thoroughly Enjoyed...

About Son Jack Jr & Michael Wilde

If these guys were a cocktail here’s the recipe:

Pour one part each of Son House, John Lee Hooker, RL Burnside, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Robert Johnson, Charley Patton, Skip James, Little Walter, James Cotton, Big Walter Horton and Blind Willie Johnson into a large blender.  Add a couple splashes of Big Bill Broonzy, Howlin Wolf, Sleepy John Estes, Sonny Terry and Long John Baldry.  Add triple measures of guitar mastery, harp pyrotechnics, incredible songwriting, engaging stage presence, and a cup of sweat and then blend the mixture on high speed for 3 hours.  Serve with plenty of ice.

Son Jack Jr. is a blues singer, songwriter and guitarist who performs acoustic solo, duo & electric band sets. He was raised in London, England and moved to the USA in 1997 where he re-started his musical career that had been dormant for 20 years. Back in the 70’s and ‘80’s he recorded, performed and toured extensively in the UK but is now back with bang and has released two critically acclaimed blues albums since 2005.   The duo will be releasing their first collaborative album in mid 2010.

The duo's live shows have been described as “intoxicating, intense, exciting experiences” and comprise mostly original material and a heady mix of classics from a wide range of country blues greats (see cocktail recipe).

Son Jack Jr has had the good fortune to play with legends such as David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Louisiana Red, and John Cephas, and has appeared on the same bill as just about every major Pacific Northwest act.  As a duo the pair have opened for Candye Kane, Sonny Landreth, Magic Slim and Coco Montoya to name a few.
