Tim Vaughn "Read Between The Lines"

Even before receiving Tim Vaughn's newest release "Read Between The Lines", I had already been intrigued by seeing that he was coming to my town as the opening act for none other than Johnny Winter and it was shortly after I started listening to this amazing album, that my intrigue continued to grow.

"Read Between The Lines", for sure, is not strictly Blues music, but is is damn good music and when it comes to describing what it sounds like, well Tim Vaughn says it best, "it's like Prince, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and Radiohead all met Los Lobos at the bar in From Dusk Till Dawn, and Jack White was playing there with Elvis Costello. I think there's a little bit of myself in there too". For sure the listener will get a bit of that throughout "Read Between The Lines", but in addition for me, I found that Tim Vaughn sounded a bit like Nick Gilder, the singer in Sweeney Todd, even some of the music had a Sweeney Todd sound to it, and I love Sweeney Todd, even when Bryan Adams was their singer.

"Read Between The Lines" consists of 10 Tracks of which all of them were either written or co-written by Tim Vaughn. Shaun Verreault was responsible for the co-writing of 2 Tracks. Shaun Verreault, whom is the Frontman and Guitarist for Wide Mouth Mason, also produced "Read Between The Lines".

The musicians on this album consisted of Tim Vaughn (Guitar), Bryce Lemky (Drums), and Dave Anderson (Bass), whom together make up yet another exciting and dynamic 3 piece Canadian Trio.

For me, the music on "Read Between The Lines" was not only a real treat, but also a rare treat. It is not often that something new and exciting crosses my desk, but that is exactly what this album is. From the opening Track "Leaving You Behind" with it's Stevie Ray Vaughan feel, to Track 3 "Hold On To My Head", with it's amazing opening that will I'm sure remind you of Led Zepellin, to Track 8, the title Track, with it's psychedelic opening, sure to remind you of Jimi Hendrix, to it's closing Track "Leaving This World To You", which will once again remind you a bit of Led Zepellin, "Read Between The Lines" will certainly leave you with the feeling that you have listened to something with a lot more creativity, uniqueness, and substance then one presently hears from the mainstream music scene.

Tim Vaughn has been referred to as a "Renaissance Man, far beyond his years", from those in the music community that know him, a statement that surely resonates throughout "Read Between The Lines". This album marks only his second to date, but that is surely his second amongst many more to come.

"Read Between The Lines" is not really much Blues, it is though one you really shouldn't miss out on listening to. 5***** for sure for "Read Between The Lines". Highly Recommended and Thoroughly Enjoyed.
