Reviews And Info If you really enjoy a good guitarist weaving his magic on the old fretboard, than Dennis Johnson's new realease, "Slide Show", is for you. "Slide Show" consists of a variety of styles, but mainly you get a good Blues and Country feel from this Album, after all when it comes to the Guitar, it has no boundaries, and to play the Blues or Country or Whatever, you simply have to be a really good guitarist, to do it right, as all styles can be quite challenging. "Slide Show" consists of 10 tracks and shows us all yet another great talent of Dennis Johnson, and that is, his abilty to write and arrange really good catchy tunes, as all but 8 on this album are his originals. Slide guitar is one of the most expressive forms of music that I have ever heard. There are tones you can play with the slide that you cannot get playing otherwise. WHAT DREW YOU TO THE MUSIC OF THE 1930s AND 1940s? An amazing variety of music in those decades. Blues, country, ragtime, jazz, the list goes on and on. So much creative music that people still love today. WHO ARE YOUR INFLUENCES? So many ...but Robert Johnson stands out for slide guitar. There was an immediate connection when I heard those recordings of Robert Johnson. The intricate slide guitar slide work, phrasing, and haunting vocals were as impressive as any music that I ever heard. Its like jazz. You really have to listen to whats going on.
